Going Back to Cali

Our family just got back from a week in California. Jared and I went away for 3+days for our tenth anniversary without the kids. The time away was awesome and always needed, but wasn't without drama. Jared was sweet and planned for 3 days of sun and fun (2 days in San Diego, and 1 at Universal Studios) that didn't happen as planned. The first day we went to Sea World and had a blast. No diapers, whining, or badly needed naps to interrupt the day. Just time together. Except Jared forgot to factor in the fact that I am freakishly white and burn immediately in any sun exposure. Since The trip destinations were a surprise to me, I wasn't prepared for what was to come. Needless to say that 10 hours later I was so burned that my hair was sticking to my blistered ears and I looked like a messed up raccoon from wearing sunglasses all day. Make-up was no help and i got stares the rest of our trip. We even cancelled our 3rd day plans to go to Universal Studios and shopped and saw movies instead. I still had fun being able to just be Jared's wife and not mom for the 3 days. After we had a great 4th of July with all our family at my parents' house and even left Madelyn and Carson at Ma's house for a couple weeks. Jared and I returned home with the 2 little ones and wait for the other to to come back. But we are both still itchy and peeling from our leftover matching burns. Definitely unforgettable!!!

welcome to the Blogosphere ( I guess I can't really welcome you guys since I don't have a blog yet.) Bummer you got burned. Kos literally got burned once just from walking to the mail box and back. It's the curse of the fair-skinned

Welcome to the blog world, Holly!

I totally understand the sunburn stories. I've got some epic stories myself. Once, I burned getting the mail from the mailbox. Yeah.

ha ha. I just read Keenan's post. oops! same story. Well, I did get burned on Pioneer Trek so bad that my blisters on my face had to be lacerated by a doctor on the Trek and I was sent home early. My dad didn't recognize me when he opened the front door. I had to lay in bed for four days. Ew.

I found it! I was putting an 's' on Frost so that's why it didn't come up. Thanks for the awesome yummy food :) It was much appreciated. I am so jealous of you getting the time with your hubby and no kids. Sorry to hear about the sun burn.
