Our beautiful baby Blake came into the world one week ago, which was 5 weeks before his due date. I had gone to my regular OB appt and found out I had pre-eclampsia and apparently the only cure for it is delivery. The delivery went okay and luckily baby was born pretty healthy, but after the delivery was hell for me. He was delivered in half a push and then whisked away to the NICU since he was so early. Right after that they had to give me a DNC because the placenta was coming out in pieces and stuck in my uterus. Most painful experience ever, with the doctor basically scraping my insides with her hand way inside me for at least 10 minutes. I was in and out of conciousness and lost a lot of blood. It was intense and scary, as 6-8 nurses and doctors swarmed my bed and talked quietly about what to do. Also apparently the medicine they give you for the pre-eclampsia helps some during labor, but really makes you sick and loopy after the baby is here. I don't remember a lot of the couple of days after labor, and was really weak and loopy. And 3 days after the birth I had to get a blood transfusion to get my blood count back up. I'm feeling a lot better, but will be anemic for the next few weeks as my blood levels keep building up. Blake is still in the NICU, but hopefully will come home next week. He's doing well, but needs to get better at sucking the bottle and eating.
